Filipino Woman Fined $1,000 For Selling Liquor

Bandar Seri Begawan – A Filipino woman was fined $1,000 or in default 3-weeks imprisonment by the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court yesterday for selling alcoholic drinks in the country.

Violeta Antigo was arrested by Customs officials at No. 5, Simpang 185, Jalan Bebatik on June 1. She paid the fine.

Meanwhile, a Malaysian man was also convicted by the same court for smuggling alcoholic drinks into Brunei.

Matusin bin Damit, 33, was sentenced to fine of $250 or in default one week imprisonment.

Matusin bin Damit, a self-employed man, was arrested by Customs Officers on May 26 at the Kuala Lurah Control Post. He also paid his fine. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
