By Rosli Abidin Yahya

Brunei's political party leader called for solidarity amongst the population in their combined efforts with the government towards national economic development and progress.

Dr Hj Mohd Hatta bin Hj Zainal Abidin, the president of Parti Perpaduan Kebangsaan Brunei (PPKB) recently had a meeting with representatives of both Malay and Chinese business communities at his office in Kuala Belait.

During the meeting, businessmen voiced their concerns over the slowdown of business activities in the country, the Belait District in particular.

"Entrepreneurs should unite and avoid dirty competition," Dr Hj Mohd Hatta said. He also said that financial establishments should lower interest rates and that people should take a proactive stance in rectifying the economy.

He said that collective efforts should be taken by the public in order to move the economy.
