Seminar Held On Arabic Language
Curriculum

Begawan - In its continuous effort to improve the quality of
Arabic language studies in the country, the Arab Language Department,
Sultan Haji OmarAli Saifuddien Institute of Islamic Studies of
Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) will be holding a seminar on Arabic
Language Curriculum from 30 to 31 August at the Chancellor Hall, UBD.
The seminar, themed "The Theories and
Implementations of Arab Language Curriculum" (`Kurikulum Bahasa Arab
Antara Teori dan Pelaksanaan'), will focus on the quality and
effectiveness of the curriculum.
Currently, a curriculum suitable to
the growth of Arabic language studies in schools that are not in the
Arabic stream, including kindergarten, primary and secondary levels is
being sought.
Among the aims of the seminar are to
continue the existing good working relationships amongst the
educational institutes in the country that is involved in Arabic
Language studies, and to discuss and present ideas to improve the
quality of the Arabic Language curriculum in the country.
Furthermore, the seminar will
introduce the basis of formation of the curriculum that is in
accordance to the socio-cultural aspect and way of life of the
community and to reflect upon the problems faced regarding Arabic
Language studies curriculum and how to solve them.
Among the working papers which will
be presented are `Professionalism of Arabic language teachers', `The
objective of Arabic Language studies in the country, the community and
students' perspective regarding Arabic Language', and so on.
The seminar is open to all lecturers,
education officers, government officers, teachers, undergraduates,
students, and to all those interested.
The closing date for participation is
August 7 and the seminar will be conducted in Arab and Malay language.
