Organisers meet on tug-of-war
tournament to mark royal birthday

The National Tug-of-War competition
organised in conjunction with His Majesty's 58th birthday celebrations
was the highlight of a meeting attended by members of the organising
committee for the upcoming event. The meeting was held yesterday at
the Brunei-Muara District Office.
A challenge trophy contributed by HRH
Prince Mohamed Bolkiah is up for grabs at the competition jointly
organised by the executive committee of His Majesty's 58th birthday
celebrations and the committee for the tug of war competition.
Representatives from all four
districts will battle it out in the competition, which will be divided
into three categories, namely Category A for those below 70 kg,
Category B for an accumulated group weight of 1,600 kg and Category C
for youths below the age of 21 with an accumulated group weight of
1,100 kg.
Two groups which could make to the
first and second place in each category will automatically qualify for
the final round to be held on July 22 at the Muda Hashim Primary
School in the Tutong District.
The top winner will receive an amount
of B$2000 in prize money, a challenge and accompaniment trophies,
while the runner-up will receive $1,500 and a trophy. The second
runner-up will be awarded $1,000 as well as a trophy.
