Al-Maghfirah Launches Family Website
By Azaraimy HH

Bandar Seri Begawan - The uses of ICT and personal homepages have surely benefited many Bruneians nowadays.

More and more people have realised its importance and are making use of it in many ways.

The Al-Maghfirah, a family group comprising sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters and cousins of Pengarah Dato' Paduka Haji Awg Othman bin Abdul Kadir, took it a bit further by building a website dedicated to the group.

Al-Maghfirah was set up in 1991 by a group of school teenagers led by Haji Nabil Daraina bin Pehin Udana Khatib Dato' Paduka Ustaz Hj Awang Badaruddin. After ten years, these teenagers are now working adults with families of their own.

The Al-Maghfirah has also grown, and now has its own family hall "Balai Maghfirah", where the families gather to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) and other family activities such as motivation talks and so on.

The setting up of the Al-Maghfirah has certainly brought closer the ever enlarging family members and now, they have built their own website complete with useful information such as family activities, photo archives and other information.

The name Al-Maghfirah brings about a religious connotation, which is an Arabic word meaning "forgiveness", which according to the group helps to mirror harmony.

The Al-Maghfirah held a launching ceremony for the website at the Balai Maghfirah in Kg. Sg. Besar in Jln Kota Batu last Saturday night.

The website was officially launched by Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awg Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Awg Othman.

A family motivational talk by Awg Ali Yusri bin Hj Abd Ghafor, a counselling teacher at the Ministry of Education, was also held during the launching ceremony. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
