Four Malaysian Students Take Part
In ‘Pantun Remaja’
By James Kon
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Four students from Malaysia arrived here Sunday to
partake in the annual 'Pantun Remaja MoU RTB/RTM 2004' hosted by
Pelangi Network 91.4.
Two education officers accompanied
the four Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) delegates.
By the evening, the Selangor students
were introduced and handed over to their respective foster parents in
Brunei.
The home stay activity aims to help
Malaysian students understand the culture and lifestyle of Brunei.
In a short speech, Hj Mohd Hussain
Abdul Rahman, RTB Head of Corporate Affairs, said that this is the
third time 'Pantun Remaja MoU RTB/RTM' has been organised.
Previously, it was held in Genting
Highlands and Langkawi, where Bruneian students had a memorable time
in Malaysia, as well as a good exchange of 'Pantun.'
Among the activities lined-up for RTM
delegates are trip to the water village, and a courteous visit to
Pusat Ehsan in Kg Bengkurong.
The exchange programme between RTB
and RTM aims to further enhance working relations between both TV
broadcasting stations, and to entice youths into taking an active role
in sustaining the culture, which includes `Pantun.'.
Nor Adila Binti Said, one of the four
students, expressed mixed emotions about being placed in the care of
foster parents. Experiencing happiness, fear, excitement and a wee bit
of nervousness, this first-timer to Brunei feels the people here are
very friendly.
She is also very delighted to be part
of the Malaysian team participating in the 'Pantun Remaja Programme.'
