Rotary Club Has New Officers

Bandar Seri Begawan - Rotarian Yong Teck Chin has been nominated as the president of the Rotary Club 2004-2005 while Rotarian David Taylor, the vice-president.

This was announced during the installation ceremony held at the Riverview Hotel over the weekend.

Present as the chief guest was Mr. HE Paul SH Lau, High Commissioner of Canada to Brunei.

The new president said in February next year, the club will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Rotary international and 40th anniversary of Rotary Club BSB.

The 18th Pan-Borneo Interclub will also be held next year, he added.

He also hoped to increase the number of members, establish Rotaract in Brunei and organise a golf tournament in October 2005.

The club has been actively involved in community work, including sponsoring students to study overseas and making contributions to SMARTER, an association for autistic children. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
