Local Man Jailed For Taking Syabu

Bandar Seri Begawan - An unemployed local man was sentenced to three years' imprisonment yesterday after he was found guilty in the Bandar Court of two counts of consuming Methylamphetamine popularly known as Syabu.

Adi Modaamin Hj Moktal, sentenced to 3 years' jail each to run concurrently, went under the Supervision Programme of the Narcotics Control Bureau. He had given his urine samples in October and November 2000. Both samples tested positive for Syabu.

He was brought before Magistrate Muhammed Faisal where he denied the two charges of consuming the Class “A” controlled drug.

The prosecution, conducted by Pg Othman Pg Hj Ali of the NCB, proved the case beyond the court's reasonable doubt in a lengthy trial by producing eight witnesses consisting of personnel from the Scientific Services Department and the Narcotics Control Bureau. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
