More Cash Donations For Sultan’s
Birthday Celebration

Begawan – More contributions were handed over to the executive
committee for His Majesty's 58th birthday celebration in Brunei-Muara
District yesterday afternoon.
Awang
Haji Adanan Haji Hanafiah, Brunei-Muara District Officer, received the
contributions.
The sponsorships, which came from
organizations and associations of Indian businessmen, were held at the
Brunei-Muara District Office.
Ten business operators representing
the Indian Chamber of Commerce alone presented a cheque worth $12,000.
Awang
Nazeer Ahmad bin Zackaria, ICC President, handed over the
contribution.
The Committee also received separate
donations of $5,000 from Yang Pehin Dato Haji Awang Abdul Hapidz.
Meanwhile, more than $130,000 were
received from the sponsors in support for the construction of a
monument in the Tutong District.
The sponsorship came from various
companies, private sectors and individuals in the district.
The "Mercu Tanda Kenangan Daerah
Tutong" or the Tutong District Memorial Monument measured 275 square
metres. It features the element and values of cultural life, the unity
of various races and communities in the district.
The monument is expected to be
completed before the get-together ceremony with the Monarch at the
Tutong District.
The presentation of the sponsorship
was held at the Tutong District Office yesterday.
On hand to receive the sponsors was
Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Haji Idris, Acting Tutong District Officer.
Meanwhile, Pehin Awang Goh King Chin,
Goh Hock Kee Motors Managing Director, contributed $30,000.
Datu
Hulubalang Haji Abdul Wahab gave $17,000 and Pehin Awang Lau Ah Kok
and Maju Motors Sendirian Berhad donated $15,000 each.
