Noble Language Workshop For
Receptionists, Phone Operators

Begawan – The Information Department, under the auspices of the
Prime Minister's Office, yesterday morning held a talk for
receptionists and telephone operators from ministries and government
departments.
The talk was part of an intensive
workshop facilitated by the Information Department, in collaboration
with the Civil Service Institute (CSI).

Hj Bujang bin Hj Masu'ut, Director of Information Department, during
his speech, said, "Receptionists and telephone operators are the
frontliners of their ministries or departments, who communicate with
the members of the public."
He said it is not only important for
them to understand the visions and missions of their organisations,
but they should also possess ICT skills, particularly in the
preparations toward e-government, and communication skills to bridge
the organisations and clients or public members.
Delivering the talk on "Noble
Language And Its Importance" ("Bahasa Dalam Dan Kepentingan") was an
officer from the Negara Adat Istiadat Department, Pg Hj Hidup bin Pg
Hj Samsuddin.
Pg Hi Hidup gave various tips on the
application of noble language as well as explaining the reason behind
the importance of correct usage of speech.
Eighty-six receptionists and
telephone operators participated in the intensive workshop, which was
officiated on June 26 by Acting Director General of CSI Awg Hj Saifon
bin Hi Awg Besar.
Participants had since attended
various talks, and among the topics covered were the roles and
responsibilities of receptionists and telephone operators, and
effective way of communicating with clients.
They also attended a talk on ethics
and speech usage, delivered by invited speakers from the Language and
Literature Bureau and Ministry of Education. --
