Four Local Men Remanded On Theft Charges

Bandar Seri Begawan - Senior Magistrate Hj Abdullah Soefri ordered four local men, aged between 19 and 41, to be remanded at the Central Police Station in Bandar for a week pending further investigations into a theft case.

Hamzah Hj Md Noor, Md Redzwan Roslan and Ibrahim Mutusman are facing a charge of committing theft of several electronic appliances, bags, cash and a watch at a flat in Jalan Padang in the evening, sometime last month.

The charge alleges that-the defendants -committed the offence with several others who are still at large.

Meanwhile, Hamzah Hj Md Noor, together with Nasir Jalil, face another charge of stealing several pieces of jewellery, a video game component and a set of hand phones on February 4 this year in broad daylight at a house in Kg Kiulap.

No pleas were taken.

Prosecuting Officer Dk Norsuzanawati Pg Abas told the court that the defendants are believed to be involved in several other theft cases, which will be looked into by the police.

If found guilty, the defendants face an imprisonment term, which may extend to 7 years with fine. The case will be further heard on July 8. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
