Famous Dangdut Singer Jailed For
Using Syabu

Bandar Seri
Begawan - Brunei’s famous dangdut singer in the 90s, Norlela
bte Hj Abd Kahar, was sentenced yesterday to 3 years and 6 months'
imprisonment by the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court for
consuming drugs.
She was found guilty after trial to a
charge of consuming Methylamphetamine locally known as 'Syabu'.
Norlela,
who was unrepresented, was found guilty by the court after eight
witnesses were called in by the Narcotic Control Bureau Prosecutor, Pg
Othman Pg Hj Ali, to testify in the case.
The prosecutor said the defendant
tested positive for the second time for consuming the class “A”
controlled drug while undergoing the NCB Supervision programme. --
