Forty-five More Students Join
Sports School

Begawan – Forty-five more students interested in various sports
enrolled at the Sports School yesterday.
The second new intake included first
12 girl students.
The new girl students will undergo
training in the fields of athletics, Silat, badminton and golf.
To qualify, they need to pass stamina
tests conducted by the Department of Co-Curriculum.
They will also be required to undergo
a health test conducted by the government's Health Centre.
The students are now staying in a
hostel. Apart from attending sports activities, the students will also
attend ordinary academic subjects at the Menglait Secondary School
where they will study in Form One classes.
The Secretariat Unit of the Brunei
Darussalam Sport Schools Council and the Training Unit of the
Co-Curriculum Department are fully coordinating the training programme.
A student, who has been selected to
undergo training in the soccer field, said that he will also be
attending ordinary academic education in a normal school. This is
besides his deep interest in the sport field.
Mohd
Anis said he is very proud for his achievement in the field of soccer.
For Awang Khairol Tinggal, golf can
give him a lot of benefits.
Although busy with his training, he
still has time to meet his family.
Another student, Azmiputra said that
by attending the Sports School, he can improve further his performance
in the field of athletics.
He has won a bronze medal in the
recent Youth Sports Tournament.
For Zuihelmi, badminton allows him to
gain more knowledge about the game.
