Brunei And Guatemala Establish
Diplomatic Ties
New York –
The Government of His Majesty Sultan of Brunei and the Government of
the Guatemala have established diplomatic relations with effect from
yesterday.
The signing of the Joint Communiqué
took place at the Permanent Mission of Brunei Darussalam to the United
Nations in New York.
The Government of His Majesty was
represented by the Permanent Representative of Brunei to the United
Nations, Haji Shofry bin Haji Abdul Ghafor and the Government of
Guatemala was represented by its Permanent Representative to the UN,
Mr Gert Rosenthal.
Guatemala, which has an area of
nearly 109,000 square-kilometres, is located in Central America.
Its capital is Guatemala City.
Spanish is the language of about 60
percent of the population of about eleven million people.
Coffee, sugar and bananas are the
leading commercial and exports crops in Guatemala's mainly
agricultural economy. --
