Members of Ruffedge, Malaysia's top
R&B, soul and hip-hop group, who were at the Coffee Bean at
Centrepoint Wednesday night, signed autographs and had pictures taken
with their fans.
According to the manager of Ruffedge,
the group enjoyed the company.
"Back in Kuala Lumpur, the lads love
to have teh tarik at Indian restaurants with their fans," the manager
said, adding that the group leads a clean life i.e. they do not drink
alcohol, take drugs or go to discos.
Ruffedge,
sponsored by Echo Park (Malaysia), and another Malaysian alternative
group OAG will be performing in a charity concert, Konsert Amal Urban
Groove 2004 at JPCC Amphitheatre tomorrow night.
The group was formed in 1997 and has
produced three albums, Extreme Pleasure (2002), Extra Pleasure (2002)
and Ruffedge Defined (2004). The group won an award in 2002, the Most
Promising Artiste at AIM 2002.
Aside from singing, Ruffedge has
other businesses such as their own clothing and fashion line.
"Our two companies, Rufflove Clothing
and Ruffwork Designs, are into manufacturing clothes and other fashion
designs, which are being marketed all over Malaysia," Mode of Ruffedge
said.
Talking about the controversial
lyrics of their latest song 'Tipah Tertipu', he said the song had been
banned for a period of time. However, the ban has now been lifted.
"It was banned because the lyrics did
not conform to standard Malay," he said.
However, after explaining that the
truncated words and sentences were composed in such a way that it
would conform to the Hip Hop concept, the ban was lifted.
Yasmin
Hani, a Malaysian hostess, was also present to entertain the flood of
fans requesting for her autograph.
She told the Bulletin that she has
been a host since 1999.
"Apart from hosting functions, events
and activities, I am also an actress," she said, adding that she also
played a role in the telemovie,
