2,000 Join In Belait Rehearsal For HM’s Birthday Fete On July 17

Kuala Belait - Roughly 2,000 people gathered yesterday at the BSRC Field in Kuala Belait for rehearsals in preparation of a get-together ceremony with the 'rakyat' for His Majesty the Sultan's 58th birthday celebrations.

The participants comprised private and government school students, youth associations, community groups, as well as personnel of government departments and BSP, among others.

Scheduled to take place at the Brunei Shell Recreational Club (BSRC) Field on July 17, the grand ceremony this year will be different from previous years as it will showcase a combination of cultures.

According to Performance Head Coordinator cum Choreographer Awg Hj Harun bin Mokti, the show will be formed in three drama dance segments entitled 'Intan Di Daerah Gemilang Negara Terbilang.'

It will be illustrated culturally, mainly with the use of technical methods such as choreography, as well as by applying the `Mexican Wave' Association, spiral action and the domino - all of which will move to form a diamond.

This would be accompanied by a tale through a speaking choir involving 300 youths.

He further added that the diamond symbolises the quality possessed by the population in the district.

To ensure the event is a hit, practices have been ongoing since May. Meanwhile, a full dress rehearsal will be held on July 13. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
