More Bruneians Studying French

Bandar Seri Begawan - French Ambassador Thierry Borja de Mozota yesterday disclosed that ties between Brunei Darussalam and France have improved with every passing year in various fields and activities.

In addition to that, acquiring a variety of languages is also a boon and in Brunei the number of students learning French has increased every year.

The ambassador spoke during the Certificate Presentation Ceremony for Successful Recipients of Diploma D'Etudes en Language Francaise Scholarship Award and Participants of French Language Courses conducted under UBD's Language Centre, Continuing Education Programme Held at the Senate Room of UBD's Chancellor Hall, ten students received their level one certificates. From the ten, Dk Ida Iryani Pg Hj Abu Bakar and Dyg Saiah Hj Abd Rahim, were presented with DELF certificates and Scholarship award by the French ambassador, who was the chief guest at the event.

Both Dk Ida Iryani and Dyg Saiah will further their level two studies which is Diploma D'Etudes en Language Francaise at the Universiti de Le Rochelle, France beginning July 3. Their term will end on August 2. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
