Shell Gas And Power Delegation Tours BLNG

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 15-member delegation from Shell Gas and Power, Asia Pacific (GPA)visited Brunei LNG (BLNG) on Tuesday, according to a press release.

Peter De Wit, Regional Business Director, led the GPA delegation.

On arrival, the group comprising of senior officials from GPA office in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific, was briefed by GM-Marketing Mohamad Awang Damit on the latest developments at BLNG, including the current plant-wide rejuvenation programme, the first to be carried out in the industry.

General Manager Hj Said Ahmad took the group on a tour around the plant for them to view the recently completed MCHE replacement project and start-up activities of Train 4.

It should be noted that the replacement project successfully came into LNG production on Tuesday at 4.30pm, three days ahead of schedule.

BLNG plant, which is the oldest in the Asia Pacific region, is undergoing its second plant-wide major rejuvenation programme, according to Dato Paduka Hamdillah HA Wahab, the Managing Director of BLNG.

The Managing Director was speaking during a dinner reception for the visiting delegates at the Empire Hotel & Country Club.

The Managing Director of BLNG also pointed out that BLNG achieved a record 214 shipments of B-class equivalent cargoes of LNG last year, the highest in history."

Meanwhile, BLNG restored its position in the industry top quartile in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), reliability and cost effectiveness based on recent Shell Global Solutions International (SGSI) benchmarking exercise.

This is the result of successful partnership right across the value chain and the full support and cooperation extended by the three shareholders - PM Corporation, Shell and Mitsubishi Corporation.

Dato Hamdillah also paid tribute to Luke Gardiner, GP Vice President for South East Asia, who is retiring from Shell group service after more than 27 years of service.

Gardiner has also been a member of BLNG Board of Directors for four years. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
