$10,000 Worth Of Rings Stolen

Bandar Seri Begawan - Two thefts, involving rings worth $10,000, were reported to the police in the past four days, it was revealed yesterday.

Police also recorded three theft cases at a supermarket in Kampong Lambak, parking lots in Sungai Bunga and Kota Batu, and at the Brunei International Airport.

Two mobile phones, important documents, $800 in cash and a handycam were among the items reported missing.

Two house break-ins were recorded in Kampong Sengkurong and Kampong Sungai Hanching, where jewellery were stolen.

Four women, aged between 17 and 20, were held in connection with the cases.
 

Another seven thefts inside the building were also recorded in Kampong Sungai Tilong, Yayasan Complex, Ministry of Education building, Kampong Kiarong, Mentiri Beach Golf Club, Jerudong Park substation, and Royal Brunei Sports Club.

Among the items stolen were two rings worth $10,000, foreign currencies, 11 mobile phones, a diamond bracelet, $490 in cash, four pen drives, two digital cameras, a grass-cutter, a chainsaw, and a cable.

A foreign employee, aged 25, was nabbed for stealing $616 in cash at Haji Daud building in Gadong, while two vandalism cases were reported in Jerudong and Gadong.

Four assaults, four frauds, two runaway teenagers, three runaway maids, one case of runaway employee, a small fire outbreak, a nuisance phone call, four cases of dissatisfaction and fearing of something bad happening, one case of rape attempt and two cases of drug abuse with two men and a woman detained, two cases of customs with a foreign man nabbed for beer smuggling were also recorded.

Four cases of immigration violation were recorded, with six men and two women apprehended for failing to show valid documents.

There was also a bust of gambling activity, during which six men were detained.

Sixteen car accidents, 37 self-accidents, one case of self-accident involving a motorcyclist with a 45-year-old man dying and five injuries were recorded, 36 of which occurred in the Brunei-Muara District, 10 in Belait, eight in Tutong and one in Temburong.   -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
