Help On The Way To Save House At Risk Of Landslide
By Rosli Abidin Yahya

Bandar Seri Begawan - The owner of a house located by the hillside of Kg Tumasik in Jalan Tutong that is "at risk" of a landslide after heavy rains pounded the area last month, this week expressed his gratitude to the Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Board, Ministry of Home Affairs, who promised him that help was on the way.

Pg Hj Abu Bakar bin Pg Dato Paduka Hj Mohamad said that an officer from the BSB Municipal Board delivered the good news a few days ago.

The 56-year-old man's predicament was highlighted in the December 23, 2008, issue of the Borneo Bulletin, the same day that officials from the Fire & Rescue Services, Ministry of Home Affairs and Department of Environment, Parks & Recreation, Ministry of Development, visited his residence.

The Fire & Rescue Services provided a synthetic cover to prevent more soil from eroding in the area.

Pg Hj Abu Bakar, meanwhile, pointed out that the river behind his house has to be widened and deepened to ensure that the water level does not rise to a dangerous level, especially during a heavy downpour.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
