By Azaraimy HH
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The RTB Awards return this year with the
introduction of a new more exciting, interactive format that enables
the public to vote for their favourite personalities via SMS in some
of the categories, RTB announced at a press conference earlier this
week.
A total of 15 types of awards are
up for grabs with five of them based on popular voting through SMS,
namely, Popular Actor, Popular Actress, Popular Male DJ, Popular
Female DJ and Popular TV Presenter.
The venue of the awards ceremony
will be the International Convention Centre in Berakas on Feb 9,
2008.
An annual project, the RTB Awards
began in the year 2000 to show acknowledgement and appreciation to
the artistes, producers, personnel and staff of RTB for their
meaningful contribution to television and radio production and
broadcasting.
Also for the first time, the battle
for Popular Deejay is expected to be more interesting with the
inclusion of a private radio network, Kristal Astro. RTB said the
move is to create a healthy competition among the deejays to raise
the quality of the presentation and services.
The voting actually opened on Jan
10, 2007. RTB said a mechanism is in place to allow only one vote
from one person to avoid double counting and ensure the legitimacy
of the voting.
The SMS voting runs until Feb 8,
2008.
RTB said for every SMS vote that is
sent. 30 cents will be charged, parts of which will be handed over
to SMARTER Brunei. Voting can be done via messaging 22333 (b.mobile)
or 8885555 (DST). SMS voters can vote by typing "ARTB (Category
Code) (Name)".
The public can get further
information such as the artistes' code at www.rtb.gov.bn or through
newspapers or b.mobile WAP Portal.
Other award categories include Best
TV Production and Best Radio Production.
The 2007 RTB Awards will include
the announcement of the recipients of the RTB Special Awards 2007
and Anugerah Insa Seni (Artist Personality Awards) in recognition of
their major contribution to the broadcasting field. -- Courtesy of Borneo
