Star-Studded Launch For New Corolla

Bandar Seri Begawan - After almost three years since the success of the previous Corolla model, Toyota has once again grabbed people's attention with its 10th generation Toyota Corolla.

NBT (Brunei) Sdn Bhd went all out to present the latest addition to its line-up at the Atrium Concourse area of The Mall, Gadong, on Sunday, with the theme "We Give You The Stars".

Unveiling the star on stage was Mr Ninan Chacko, Managing Director of NBT (Brunei) Sdn Bhd, along with other senior members from NBT.

"It would be a shame to just have the Corolla in our showrooms. We wanted as many people to be able to see it for the first time without having to squeeze into our showrooms," said Mr Chacko.

The grand unveiling proved to be a public affair as thousands of people came to view the car, which was flanked by celebrities from IKON ASEAN 2007, including Vina Morales from the Philippines, Astrid from Indonesia, Dina from Malaysia, as well as Brunei's very own local star, Zul F, echoing NBT's theme.

Television personality Paula Malai Ali was the emcee for the event.

"Music is also a common thread that connects different cultures and it is only appropriate to infuse music into the launch," added Mr Chacko.

"Just as music crosses cultural diversity, so has the Corolla model that has achieved so much success in so many countries.

"At first, the initial idea was to unveil it throughout the country in a number of malls and shopping centres, and since that was logistically impossible we decided to make it a grand event that is within reach for all our prospective buyers, so they could admire the new Corolla while being entertained with the wonderful presentations by the IKON ASEAN stars," said Mr Chacko.

"I believe this is by far the biggest event done by NBT for a car launch."

The star-studded event reflected the success story that lies behind the well-loved Toyota Corolla since it was first introduced in 1968.

The all-new redefined sleeker than ever 2008 Corolla features a distinctive front grille and bolder, more muscular outlines over its wheel arches.

With much more spacious interior compared to its predecessor, the all-new model oozes comfort and relaxation for all passengers.

However, the Corolla is not just about looks. With a powerful 80kw horsepower VVT-i engine, Toyota's advanced engine technology continues to emphasise reliability and economy in its cars, and that is what makes the Corolla legendary.
