glad to know that the first ever paper plane contest will be held at
the Seri Q-Lap Mall, Kiulap on March 9 in an effort to educate the

The organiser, Seri Q-Lap
Superstore, has announced the event earlier so contestants can
prepare and practise for the contest.
"They can begin practising now. We

necessary permission," said Anthony Lim, Deputy General Manager of
Seri Q-Lap Superstore yesterday.

basically about the necessary skills needed in flying a plane made
from A4 sized paper.
The contest will be based on the
distance a paper plane could fly on being released from the second
floor of the mall as well as its maneuvering
Open to all members of the public,
especially students, schools may also participate by sending
representatives to the contest.
"The main rule for participants is
to use recycled or used A4 paper. They are allowed to fold the A4
paper into different styles and designs.
"Cuts are allowed in the design of
the paper plan and leftovers of the cuts can be reused again.
"However, no tapes, clips, glues or
staples can be used to stick leftover cuttings onto a paper plane,"
he said.
He added a participant should make
his or her own plane without the help of others and the winner will
be called on stage to demonstrate the making of their winning entry.
He said there is no limit on the
number of participants. However, if there are a large number of
competitors, it may hold preliminary rounds,
Forms for the contest will only be
available from Seri Q-Lap Superstore in Kiulap commencing Jan 25.

A paper plane, paper aeroplane, or
paper airplane is a toy plane made out of paper. It is also
sometimes called aerogami, after origami (the Japanese art of paper
folding).
It is popular due to the fact that
it is one of the easiest types of origami for a novice to master.
The most basic paper plane would
only take at most six steps to "correctly" complete it. -- Courtesy of Borneo
