Female Prison Inmates Mark New Hijrah Year

Bandar Seri Begawan - Some 50 people comprising personnel and inmates of the women's prison celebrated the new Islamic year, Hijrah 1428, yesterday at the Prayer Hall of the Jerudong Prison.

Present as guest of honour was Dato Paduka HajiAhmad Bin Haji Dullah, Prisons Director.

The ceremony began with a recitation of the Surah alFatihah followed by welcoming remarks from the chairman of the ceremony.

Those present also witnessed an Asma-Ul-Usna competition as well as 'Nasyid" performance from the female inmates. Towards the end of the ceremony, the guest of honour presented prizes to winners of the competition.  -- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
