Brunei Hold Kedah To Scoreless
Draw
By Dannie Abu Basrah
Bandar Seri
Begawan – Brunei DPMM FC put up a great performance at the
Darul Aman Stadium in Kedah last night when they held the host to a
scoreless draw to snatch a point.
Brunei DPMM FC coach Ranko fielded
his usual starting 11 with Antonio Lombardo Tosi and Fadlin Galawat
spearheading the attack as the Croatian also included new signing
Cameroonian, Mathew Mbuta from the kickoff in his second match for
Brunei DPMM FC.
Host Kedah started the game
brilliantly launching several dangerous attacks throughout the first
half with attempts from Saramsak, Chi Chi Mendez and Marcos Magno but
Brunei DPMM FC goalie Wardun displayed a solid performance.
Kedah
defender Victor nearly gave Brunei DPMM FC the lead after Mathew
Mbuta's header forced him to head backwards for, a corner that missed
his own goal inches away. However, Brunei DPMM FC's best chance came
on the 42"d minute as Antonio Lombardo Tosi failed to _head home from
close range after Rosmin's searching corner met the Brazilian at the
far post.
Two minutes into the second half,
Saramsak wasted a good chance to put the host in front where the
striker only needed a touch to direct the ball into goal from a low
right cross.
It was overall an end to end action
throughout the game as Brunei DPMM FC too battled their way forward
with their golden chance arriving on the 51S' minute through a counter
attack as Fadlin beat off two defenders before lining a shot for
unmarked Antonio Lombardo Tosi but unfortunately the Brazilian failed
to capitalise blasting the ball high over the bar.
With the game still locked without a
goal, Kedah threw in their star youngsters in the form of Md Bunyamin
and Khyril Muhymeen that proved to win most ball possession with
Saramsak and Magno coming close to snatching a goal and all three
points in the last 5 minutes. --
