Brunei’s Tsunami Mercy Mission
Arrives Medan
Medan
– The national carrier, Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA)
transporting Brunei's tsunami relief donations arrived Medan on a
humanitarian mission on Wednesday.
The mercy flight landed at the
Polonia Airport, Medan at 12.50pm.
Joining the mission were RBA's
Chairman, Pehin Dato Haji Hazair and a member of the board and
management of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation, Dato Haji
Zakaria bin Haji Jeneh as well as several medical officers of the
Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
The flight carried some 17 tonnes of
relief items for the survivors of the tsunami disaster.
It consisted of medical supplies,
foods, clothing and prayer attires for woman contributed by the Sultan
Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation, Ministry of Health and the Royal
Brunei Armed Forces.
At Polonia airport, Dato Haji Zakaria
handed over the relief donation to the Indonesian Government
Representative from the Ministry of Communication, Bapak Benny K
Sirait SS.
From Medan, the relief aid and
volunteers would be flown to the foundation relief's base in Sabang of
Northern Aceh where it accommodates all the humanitarian volunteers
from the country.
The items will later be distributed
to identified locations by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces' Black Hawks.
Beside relief donation from Brunei,
help from other countries could also be seen at the Polonia Airport
for humanitarian mission in Aceh.
