RBA On Special Medan Mission To Aid Aceh Tsunami Survivors

Bandar Seri Begawan – In support of relief efforts by the local authorities for Tsunami survivors in Aceh, Royal Brunei Airlines operated a humanitarian flight to Medan to deliver Brunei's relief donations yesterday.

Also on the mercy flight were RBA's Chairman, Pehin Dato Haji Hazair and Dato Haji Zakaria bin Haji Jeneh, a member of the board and management of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

The flight brought with it several officers from the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and a medical team from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

Present at the airport to bid safe journey to the team were the Yayasan's board of directors chairman, Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin and the Deputy Chairman, Pehin Dato Awang Haji Abu Bakar.

The Boeing 767 brought 17 tonnes of relief items that were collected by the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, the Ministry of Health and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

This shipment consisted of clothing, prayer attire and mats, food and medical supplies.

Brunei Shell Marketing fully sponsored the fuel cost for the entire journey of this special mission.

The flight was scheduled to arrive in Medan at 12.40am Brunei time.
