Filipino Teenager Jailed Three Months For Illegal Entry
By Malai FadieyRizal

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 17-year-old Filipino girl was jailed three months yesterday after she pleaded guilty to entering and remaining in Brunei illegally before the Bandar Magistrate's Court.

According to the Immigration Prosecuting Officer, the 17-year-old defendant was caught red-handed on December 20, 2004 when Immigration Officers at the Kuala Lurah Control Post checked her passport as she tried to exit the country with the intention of re-entering later.

Personnel found no social visit pass endorsed on her passport.

Further investigations revealed that the defendant had gone to the Sg Tujuh Control Post to extend her social visit pass on December 6, 2004.

The court yesterday further heard that the defendant had re-entered the country without getting her passport endorsed with a social visit pass on the above mentioned date. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
