Sunshine Scouts Donate To Tsunami Fund

Bandar Seri Begawan - Sunshine School scouts yesterday donated to the Persekutuan Pengakap Negara Brunei Darussalam Tsunami Relief Fund.

onchita G. Urcia and Surayati Bte Ahmad, their leaders, lead the scouts in making contributions for tsunami victims.

Under the ongoing PPNBD tsunami relief operation, each scout member donated a minimum of B$1.00 to the fund to help the homeless people who have survived the onslaught of the deadly tidal waves.

Sunshine School scouts made their donations at the Scouts Headquarters in the capital.

Present at the function were Pehin Dato Seri Paduka Dr Hj Awang Hussain, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports; Pehin Dato Haji Awang Mohd Ali, President of Persekutuan Pengakap Negara Brunei Darussalam; and Hj Zainal Abidin Bin Hj Ibrahim, National Scouts Commissioner.

The PPNBD Tsunami Relief Fund also received contributions such as financial assistance as well as foodstuff and clothes from the public.

The first shipment of 13 containers containing clothes was already sent to Medan, Indonesia. All contributions will be channelled to Berakan Pramuka (Indonesian Scouts) which will help distribute the donations to the affected areas in Aceh. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
