Red Tide Menace Off Brunei Expected Soon Gone

Bandar Seri Begawan – The latest monitoring on red tide phenomenon in the country has indicated that the pollutant is decreasing to below critical level.

The Fisheries Department said that it is safe to consume fish provided they are thoroughly cleaned and their internal organs removed.

However, the public are still advised to abstain from eating small fish and molluscan shellfish from the affected areas or of unknown origin.

The public, especially fishermen, can still assist the department by reporting any water discolouration or mass fish mortalities in Brunei waters or beaches on telephone numbers 881-9218, 876-9730, 8786399, and 888-7480. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
