Kanan Housing Gets New Fire Station

Begawan - Residents of Lambak Kanan Housing Scheme in Jalan
Berakas and its surrounding areas will soon be better protected
against any fire emergencies with the completion of a new fire
station.
As one of five new stations
implemented by Public Works Department under the 8th National
Development Plan, it will be operated under the Department of Fire
Services.
Yesterday morning saw the Lambak
Kanan fire station being handed over by Marzuke Hj Moksin, the Acting
Director of Building Services and Public Works Department, to Pg Hj
Daud Pg Hj Mohammad, the Acting Director of Fire Services Department.
Construction of the project started
in February 2003 on a 4.025 HA site. It cost more than B$3.5 million
and consists of three buildings, namely an administrative block,
dormitory and a smoke chamber.
The administration block houses its
operation room and engine bays, lecture hall, science laboratory,
training rooms, library, canteen as well as offices.
The dormitory for male and female
trainees or recruits could accommodate up to 60 persons while the
smoke chamber has training facilities. --
