His Majesty Lauded For Taking Stand On Corruption
By Helena M. Mahathir

Bandar Seri Begawan - Parti Perpaduan Kebangsaan Brunei (PPKB) has lauded His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei’s New Year 'Titah' highlighting the importance of national security and strengthening the spirit of patriotism.

The monarch's reminder for the eradication of negative elements - such as abuse of power and corruption - from the development process is also firmly supported by PPKB, said Dr Hj Mohd Hatta bin Haji Zainal Abidin, its president.

"His Majesty's concern on the need for fostering the spirit of goodwill among the 'rakyat' and the nation as a whole, as well as good neighbourliness within the community has always been one of PPKB's main objectives," added Dr Hj Mohd Hatta.

PPKB further praised His Majesty's call for priority to be placed on the process of national development by involving the private sector.

Dr Hj Mohd Hatta said all organisations within the private sector, including multi-national companies, banks as well as semi or fully government-owned companies, should strive toward the realisation of His Majesty's wish for a more integrated teamwork approach, which will result in added value partnership with governmental agencies.

Meanwhile, PPKB has established a collection centre for the tsunami victims, which is open to party members as well as the public in the Belait District.

Donations should come only in the form of bottled water, clothing, essential materials and canned foodstuff. Contributions can be dropped off at the office of the president of PPKB, Bangunan Zainal Abidin Puteh, No 4005, Jalan Setia Di-Raja Kuala Belait, between 9 am and 4 pm daily. For further enquiries, interested donors can call 3333347 or 8828130. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
