Belait Conducts Clean-Up Work To Prevent Flooding

Kuala Belait – Authorities in the Belait District are taking precautionary measures to prevent the occurrence of flooding from becoming worst.

RTB crew, who took the latest development in the Belit District yesterday morning, saw that a clean-up work was in progress in the Kampong Pandan Housing area.

Among the work involved was the clearing up of grass in and along ditches that blocked the flow of water that could result in flooding.

The Public Works Department said the clean-up is also to spruce up the beauty of the residential area.

A choked sewage system could also attribute to flooding. Several drains in the area were found to be blocked with overgrown weeds and grass.

Dato Paduka Haji Mohamad Yussop, the Belait District Officer, revealed that the Public Works Department has earmarked two long term projects pertaining to drainage that will effectively alleviate the occurrence of flooding in low lying areas in the district. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
