BEDB Keen On Training Locals For
Brunei’s Investors

Begawan – The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) has been
keeping tab on the training of locals whose skills are needed by
prospective investors in the Sultanate.

Retired Major General Dato Awang Haji Mohammad, the Chairman of the
BEDB, disclosed this in his keynote address at the International
Conference on Contemporary Issues in Economic Development of Small
States yesterday.
He said that BEDB initiates a
discussion with local education institutions such as the Department of
Technical Education when dealing with prospective investors in Brunei
“This is to assess the type of skills
required for the intended jobs so as to provide the necessary training
for the locals to take up these jobs,” he said.
Equally important as attracting
foreign direct investments and bringing in capital to the country is
the quality of sustainable jobs and positive knock-out effects these
investment can create, he added.

Retired Major General Dato Awang Haji Mohammad also said that BEDB has
engaged the services of a renowned monitor group to conduct a study to
identify the clusters with growth potential.
He said that promotion of clusters
development in Brunei is another part of the BEDB's diversification
