By Dk Suria Rina PHA

Bandar Seri Begawan - Two uniformed staff were nabbed last Tuesday evening in a drug bust by Narcotics Control Bureau officials at the government barracks in Tutong District.

The two local Malay suspects are in their 30s.

The Narcotics Control Bureau officials confiscated the drug Methylamphetamine, which is locally known as Syabu, "Erimin 5" and a drug believed to be "ganja". The utensils used in the consumption of drugs were also seized.

In addition, cash amounting to $3,000 was confiscated. Under the Misuse of Drugs Act, Chapter 27, those caught in possession of more than 50 grammes of Methylamphetamine (syabu) could face the death penalty.

The Narcotics Control Bureau urged the public not to be involved in the misuse and trafficking of drugs and warned that offenders would receive heavy penalties.

Meanwhile, the Narcotics Control Bureau said that it is continuously monitoring measures for preventing the misuse of drugs.

Any information on the misuse of drugs should be reported to the bureau via telephone number 147 (office hours) or the hotline 8777444 (after office hours). -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
