Sultan Visits Royal Brunei Navy

Begawan - His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei
yesterday morning visited the Royal Brunei Navy base in Muara.
The visit was part of His Majesty's
continuing visits to other units of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
His Majesty arrived by helicopter at
the base and was greeted by Pg Sanggamara Diraja (R) Major General Pg
Hj Ibnu Ba'asith, the Deputy Minister of Defence; Pehin Dam Lailaraja
Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awg Halbi; the Commander of the
Royal Brunei Armed Forces; and, Col. (L) Joharie bin Matussin, the
Commander of RBN.
His Majesty, who is the Supreme
Commander of RBAF and Minister of Defence, was greeted with a Royal
Guard of Honour and later inspected the parade mounted in front of the
main headquarters of the RBN.
The monarch was briefed on the
current development and expansion project of the RBN base at the
Nakhoda Ragam Room.
Earlier, Col. (L) Joharie bin
Matussin¸ RBN Commander, delivered welcoming remarks while the
briefing was delivered by Awg Hj Mustapha bin Hj Sirat, the Deputy
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Defence.
After the briefing, His Majesty
proceeded to the naval jetty to visit one of RBN's Missile Gun Boats,
the KDB Seteria, where His Majesty was briefed by the Fleet Commander
of RBN on the weapons and capabilities of the ship.
The Sultan also visited the Royal
Brunei Navy Primary School located nearby.
Welcoming His Majesty at the school
was Cikgu Haji Mansur bin Haji Samad,the headmaster, who
briefed His Majesty throughout the visit to classes and administration
room of the school.
He also toured the gymnasium,
Quartermaster building, Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP), Outboard Motor (OBM), Fast Assault Boat (FAB)
workshop, Naval Technical Training School and Logistics Store, which
all play an integral part in the support, training and administration
of RBN.
His Majesty stopped by three houses
belonging to RBN personnel before heading to the RBN Officers' Mess
for a 'santap'.
After that, His Majesty proceeded to
visit the Decompression Chamber, where a demonstration on
Decompression Treatment was conducted by one of the Naval Diving
officers.
Before concluding the visit, His
Majesty visited the official residence of the Commander of RBN and the
Officers' and Sergeants' Mess.
Accompanying His Majesty's on the
visit was Pehin Datu Singamentri Dato Paduka Awg Hj Mohd Yasmin, the
Permanent Secretary (Policy and Administration) at MINDEF, Service
Commanders, Military Directors as well as senior officials from both
MINDEF and RBAF. --
