Relief Fund Drive
By Azrol Azmi
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The relief fund to aid victims of the recent tsunami
has received an overwhelming response from both members of the Brunei
Darussalam Scouts Association (PPNBD and the general public.
The Brunei Darussalam Scouts
Association (PPNBD) set up the Fund, which is reflecting a caring and
helping local community in the Sultanate.
Ever since it was launched on January
1, the fund has received more than B$4,000 in cash and hundreds of
pieces of clothing donated by its members as well as the public for
the surviving victims in the affected countries.
Due to the unexpected response, the
fund operation centre will be open seven days a week from 9.00am until
5.00pm daily.
For public convenience, the operation
centre is located at the ground floor lobby of the headquarters
building in Beribi.
According to a member of PPNBD those
who wish to donate cash and clothing may do so by visiting the centre
where scout members manning the centre will meet them. Clothing
donations will last until January 31, while cash donations can be made
till March 31, 2005.
Members of the general public are
urged to support the effort in order to ease the burden of the quake
and tsunami victims who are in need of urgent help. --
