Two Filipino Women Jailed For Overstaying

Bandar Seri Begawan - Two Filipino women who remained in this country unlawfully were sentenced to three months' imprisonment by the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Hilda Giron Cristobal, 44, pleaded guilty to overstaying for 222 days, while Tita Maraveles Resalado, 40, admitted to remaining illegally for 342 days since the expiry of their permitted to leave pass.

The Immigration Prosecutor said that Hilda Giron Cristobal had remained in this country unlawfully from May 23 to December 30, 2004 while Tita Maraveles remained here from January 24 to 30 December 2004. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
