It's Back To School Once Again
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - As part of the annual back-to-school routine, parents
and their children crowded bookstores and shopping complexes
nationwide yesterday for their last-minute shopping.
Schools all around the country will
reopen today for the 2005 school term.
Parents were seen in large numbers
accompanying their children scouring shops to buy textbooks,
stationeries as well as school uniforms.
Currently shops in Brunei are
participating in the back-to-school sale until the end of January to
allow students to buy school uniforms and accessories at reduced
prices.
More than 100,000 students of Brunei
Darussalam are set to return to their educational institutions today.
Some students will enter classes for
the first time in 208 government and private kindergartens and primary
schools nationwide.
Students who passed their Primary
School Evaluation examination will also be entering some 115 secondary
schools - government, private and Arabic - for the first time.
Available statistics put the number
of students at 106,294 for the year 2004 attending 252 institutions
offering education level of kindergartens, primary, secondary,
technical, vocational, teacher training, institute and university.
