Khalwat Couple And Illegal
Foreigners Held In Belait New Year Raid
Belait
– A couple was caught at close proximity in a quiet place and
three foreigners were issued with special passes in a New Year joint
operation around the Kuala Belait and Seria yesterday.
Law enforcement agencies in the
Belait district launched the operation to spot-check motorists, shops,
private houses and places suspected to be used for illegal activities
during the New Year’s Day celebration.
During the operation, two youths were
found driving without a licence. A vehicle without road tax was also
impounded.
The patrol and check-up were made in
response to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei’s
titah and order cancelling all forms of entertainment to celebrate New
Year 2005 last night.
More than 50 officers from six
agencies were involved in the operation which began at 11pm.
Operation to forbid entertainment
celebration for the New Year continued until 2am.

enforcement agencies in the country show that they are united in
combating any elements which are against the rules and laws of the
