Nation Performs Ghaib Prayers For Tsunami Victims

Bandar Seri Begawan – Residents in the country gathered in mosques and suraus nationwide yesterday afternoon to perform the Ghaib prayers, RTB reported yesterday.

Ghaib prayers were held after the Sunnat Hajat prayers and before the Friday prayers. The Ghaib prayers were intended for Muslim victims of the earthquake and tsunami disaster that has affected several neighbouring countries as well as most countries surrounding the Indian Ocean.

This was included in His Majesty's command that was announced Thursday night in which all forms of entertainment to celebrate the New Year 2005 were to be cancelled in a show of sympathy for the victims. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
