Flash Floods Hit Mukim Pengkalan Batu

Bandar Seri Begawan – Heavy downpour struck again yesterday afternoon across several areas in the country, flooding a number of houses and rendering roads almost too hazardous to use.

Mukim Pengkalan Batu in the Brunei-Muara District was among the worst hit, with floodwater levels reaching up to three feet in some areas.

Several houses, school buildings and cars were found to be inundated with water in Mukim Pengkalan Batu, as Kg Limau Manis, Kg Pengkalan Batu, Kg Batu Ampar, Kg Masin, Kg Parit, Kg Bebuluh, Kg Wasan and Kg Kuala Lurah resembled water villages after heavy rain had caused flash floods.

One resident said that yesterday's downpour that caused the floods was one of the heaviest he had experienced in his kampong. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
