Bandar Seri
Begawan – More than 230 Haj pilgrims travelling under the
Darussalam Holding Haj Package, including medical officers, left for
Medinah yesterday.
The pilgrims took the second of the
first direct flights from Brunei to Medinah for this Haj season.
It was the fourth batch of Haj
pilgrims out of the total of more than 1,100 pilgrims registered to
perform their Haj.
Some 700 Brunei pilgrims, who are
taking their flights under Darussalam Holdings Package, will be
directly flown by Royal Brunei Airlines to Medinah.
Haj
pilgrims have been reminded to bring along warm clothing due to the
colder weather in Medinah.
The new direct flights to Medinah
have significantly reduced flying time.
Others will disembark at Jeddah
Airport from where they will be taken by buses to Medinah Al-Munawarah,
a journey that takes about nine hours.
Hundreds of family members packed the
Brunei International Airport two hours before departure to say goodbye
to their loved ones, who were about to perform one of the five pillars
of Islam. --
