Beware Of False Prophets Say Imams

Bandar Seri Begawan – Attempts by individuals and groups to disrupt peace in the country by trying to deviate the teachings of the ahli sunnah wal jemaah and introducing new teachings instead were highlighted in yesterday’s Friday sermon.

The Khutbah Jumat or Friday sermon in all the mosques throughout the country advised the public to be on guard and reject these irresponsible elements.

Recently, it was revealed in the sermon that a Malay man from a neighbouring country had appeared claiming “he is a prophet”.

He also claimed that the Holy Koran was handed down to him.

He further made the claim that Allah the Almighty had told him through Gabriel in the Surah Yassin, versus of the Koran which he had interpreted, bore the meaning that “he is a prophet”.

The New Centre has contacted the Akidah Control Unit, Ministry of Religious Affairs stating that the man belong to a group, which deviates from the teaching of Islam in the country and has been banned.

Several other groups are currently under investigation.

The sermon further warned Muslims not to be easily taken or influenced by the miracle or strangeness exhibited by any individual.

The Friday sermon further cautioned members of the public to refer to the relevant authorities should they encounter an organisation or individual who claims to be a Wali, prophet or the likes. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
