Brunei In Anti-Graft Link With
Malaysia

Begawan - Brunei's anti-corruption drive will get a new
dimension and a regional boost following a joint cooperation that has
been established between Anti-Corruption Bureau of Brunei and its
Malaysian counterpart Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA).
The bilateral tie up has been set up
during a two-day meeting in Malaysia which ended on Thursday,
Malaysian newspaper The Star reported yesterday.

Director, Hjh Intan Hj Md Kassim, who led a 19 member delegation met
with her counterpart, ACA Director-General, Datuk Zulkipli Mat Noor
who headed 13 ACA senior officers where both parties discussed various
matters pertaining to each country's corruption preventive measures,
including joint operations and information exchange.

Zulkipli Mat Noor was quoted as saying, "Both parties have agreed to
work closely, exchange information and intelligence in our efforts to
combat corruption in Brunei and Malaysia," after closing the ACA and
ACB inaugural bilateral meeting.
He added that the meeting with ACB
Brunei was the first bilateral co-operation established by the ACA
with anti-corruption agencies from other countries and that both
parties are in the process of expanding bilateral ties in intelligence
field to fight corruption.

Intan Hj Md. Kassim was quoted as saying another bilateral meeting was
scheduled to be held early next year in Brunei.
