Golden Chicks In Cleaning Campaign
Against Bird Flu

Begawan – In the wake of Bird flu outbreak that affected
several countries in the region, the local authorities have taken
various measures to monitor and prevent the disease from spreading to
the country.
One such move was an unprecedented
cleaning campaign, which was conducted jointly by the Ministry of
Health and the Agriculture Department at a poultry slaughterhouse in
Limau Manis yesterday.
A local company known as The Golden
Chicks Abbatoir Sendiran Berhad owns the slaughterhouse.
The campaign was part of the joint
plan among government agencies to curb and prevent the spread of bird
flu epidemic in to the country.
Cleanliness is said to be a key in
preventing the outbreak of the disease while at the same time
protection procedures must also be observed.
Workers involved in the culling of
poultry must wear appropriate clothing and equipment.
The use of masks, aprons and gloves
by workers at poultry farms, abattoirs and markets are also highly
recommended.
The public are also advised to
observe strict hygiene practices and to keep the environment clean.
Washing hands before and after
preparing food is the best and healthy way to prevent any diseases.
Vehicles and cages used in
transporting poultry must also be clean using water. The use of
