'Meet Parents Day for Form 3 and 5'
was held yesterday at the SMJA Secondary School along Jalan Ong Sum
Ping in Bandar Seri Begawan.
Parents were told to support their
children in achieving success, and that teachers' work is only half
the load. Parents must also cooperate in giving the best attention to
their children studies.
Parents were also briefed on what to
do and how to give due support to their children academically. There
were also talks on the activities under the programme 'Towards
Academic Excellent' and in the building of good character.
The quality of PMB and BGCE-N for
2003 has seen an encouraging turn, the school said. Of the total
students enrolled in Form 4 BGCE, 48.8 percent were allocated to take
O level compared to only 45 % in 2002.
These means there were more students
having a better result and qualified to take the O Level examinations
in 2003 than in 2002.
Besides pursuing for better academic
results, the programme also had a 'Cheering up the school' project. It
involved students in grooming and beautifying the school environment
to produce a conducive set for learning.
