Police Face Angry Dogs In Raiding
Homes
Bandar Seri
Begawan – Berakas Police raided a number of homes in Bandar
Seri Begawan yesterday meeting with a variety of responses.
At one house angry dogs kept the
raiding party at bay and at another workers’ quarters occupants
refused them entry.
The joint operation that was
conducted by more than 20 officers from the Berakas Police Station and
the Customs Enforcement Unit who swooped down on three locations last
night.
The first raid was on Kampong Serusop
where the law enforcers discovered smuggled alcohol and tobacco.
Several foreigners were also detained
for not having identification documents.
The second location targeted by the
officers last night was another block of workers quarters in Sungai
Akar.
Some workers initially refused the
officers entry but eventually relented.
Several suspects were detained and
brought back to the station until their real identities could be
verified.
The officers were welcomed at the
third suspected site with a pair of angry dogs.
After a thorough search, the officers
were unable to find what they were looking for
but discovered that one of the
tenants had in her possession a recently expired passport and identity
card.
Five foreigners were detained
throughout the whole operation of whom two were Filipino women and
three Thai males.
Four were detained for not possessing
the proper identification papers.
The fifth was detained under the
Customs Act for hiding six bottles of white wine and a carton of
