Bandar Seri Begawan – Good hygiene management practice in all animal farms is among the necessary steps that should be taken to prevent the spread of bird flu in the country.

Farm owners must strictly monitor wild birds from entering their farms and that all the utilities and vehicles coming in and out of the farms should be sprayed with disinfectant.

Awang Abdul Latif bin Haji Sani an officer from the Department of Agriculture made the reminder about the importance of maintaining cleanliness during a meeting with owners of poultry farms and abattoirs in Brunei yesterday.

He stressed on the importance of an all-in and all-out system for chicken farm management and monitoring the intrusion of wild animals into poultry farms to be in place.

The Department of Agriculture has asked all farmers to contact the authorities in case of any sign of sickness in animals.

They can contact the Agriculture Department through 238 0340 or 238 0144 extension 332 or the Department of Health Services through 238 0203.
