Local Remanded For Alleged Car Theft

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 28-year-old local who was suspected of involvement in a car theft was remanded at the BSB Central Police Station by the Magistrates' Court yesterday pending further investigations by police into the case.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Hjh Anifa Rafiza preferred a charge against Mohamad Fauzan OKK Hj Md Yunos of committing theft of a Daihatsu Charade belonging to a 35-year-old woman at the parking area of the Electrical Department Barracks in Gadong.

The offence was reported to have occurred between January 26, 2004 at 10 pm and January 27, 2004 at 2 am.

Mohammad Fauzan will be brought again before the Magistrates' Court on February 12 for further mention of the case.

The defendant is facing a penalty of three years imprisonment and fine if convicted.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
